In a significant move amidst escalating tensions between the opposition and the Narendra Modi government, the opposition ‘INDIA’ bloc has declared plans to stage a massive rally on March 31 in Delhi. Gopal Rai, a key figure in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi’s minister, made the announcement on Sunday, emphasizing the urgency of the gathering.

“The way Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested, all those people across the nation who love and respect the constitution, there is anger in their hearts. It is not just about Arvind Kejriwal but one by one to wipe out the entire opposition,” Rai voiced during the briefing of INDIA bloc leaders.

The rally’s significance stems from the recent arrest of Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case, sparking widespread condemnation from opposition quarters.

Rai further accused the Modi government of utilizing central agencies for political vendettas and manipulating legislative assemblies through financial inducements or coercion. “PM Modi is misusing central agencies, buying MLAs…either MLAs are being bought by money or they’re being threatened to join BJP. Those people who are not ready to be sold, bow down, fake cases are being registered against them,” he added.

Echoing Rai’s sentiments, Saurabh Bharadwaj, another prominent AAP leader, highlighted the historical significance of Ramlila Maidan, where the rally is scheduled to take place. “Ramlila Maidan is a historical place. The biggest revolutions in the country started from Ramlila Maidan. AAP also rose from the Ramlila Maidan… Senior leaders of all INDIA parties will take part in the rally and address the nation,” Bharadwaj emphasized.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely also underscored the rally’s broader purpose, stating, “Democracy is in danger. Our leader (Congress MP) Rahul Gandhi is fighting to save democracy. We are standing strong with the partners of INDIA alliance.”

“The March 31 ‘maha rally’ will not only be a political one but a call to save the country’s democracy and raise voices against the BJP-led Centre,” he added.

The upcoming rally signifies a unified front among opposition parties against what they perceive as authoritarian tendencies within the ruling government. With leaders from various political factions coming together, the event is poised to be a significant moment in India’s political landscape, symbolizing the collective resolve to safeguard democratic principles and challenge the status quo.
