Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the state police to launch a rigorous crackdown on foreign nationals residing illegally using forged documents, including fake Aadhaar cards. The CM’s stern message came during a late-night, three-hour marathon review meeting held at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun on Thursday.

According to an official statement, Dhami instructed the police department to coordinate closely with local administration to identify and act against such intruders. “Strict action should also be taken against those helping such people create fake documents,” the CM said.

He further emphasised zero tolerance towards drug mafias and criminal elements operating in the state. “Maintaining public trust is our top priority,” Dhami stressed, adding that while the police should remain approachable and friendly with citizens, they must instill a sense of fear among wrongdoers.

“Uttarakhand is known both nationally and internationally as a peaceful state. But the police must stay vigilant to ensure that no criminal or anti-social element misuses this peaceful image,” Dhami said.

The CM also directed officials to change the police work culture and maintain regular public contact. All SSPs and SPs have been told to conduct regular public hearings at police stations to ensure that common citizens receive immediate justice.

During the seminar, the Chief Minister also reviewed the parking and traffic arrangements around Kainchi Dham with the Nainital SSP. He instructed that a helipad be constructed at the religious site within 10 days, stating, “I will personally visit Kainchi Dham to review the helipad work after 10 days.” Additionally, he called for the submission of proposals for parking and other tourism-related development projects at the site.
