The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the remaining schedule for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, which commenced on March 22. The initial phase of the tournament saw the disclosure of dates and venues for the first 21 matches spanning over 17 days.

Awaiting the announcement of Lok Sabha Election dates, the BCCI finalized the schedule for the remaining matches. The IPL 2024 season will culminate at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26, with Chepauk also hosting Qualifier 2 on May 24.

This decision holds special significance as it allows former CSK captain MS Dhoni, potentially in his final IPL season, to conclude his illustrious career in front of his hometown supporters at Chepauk. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator are set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21 and 22 respectively.

Following the initial release, the BCCI has mapped out a plan for the subsequent matches, beginning directly with the 22nd game on April 8. The second leg of the season kicks off with a clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on April 8.

The IPL 2024 final is scheduled at Chennai’s Chepauk on May 26, with the Southern city also hosting the second qualifier on May 24. Additionally, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the first qualifier on May 21 and the Eliminator on May 22.

With just five games into the 17th season of IPL, several notable changes have marked the tournament. Chennai Super Kings appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as their new captain following Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s decision to step down. Royal Challengers Bangalore underwent a name change to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Furthermore, Hardik Pandya’s transfer from the Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians and subsequent elevation to captaincy stirred up excitement among fans.

While the initial segment of the IPL schedule for the upcoming season was announced in February, the complete IPL 2024 schedule was unveiled on March 25.
