Fire breaks out in Handwara village, two houses damaged

Srinagar: A fire broke out on Tuesday morning in the Hatchmarg village of North Kashmir’s Handwara, causing damage to at least two residential houses.

According to local sources, the fire originated in the house of Jahangir Ahmad Badhana and quickly spread to an adjacent house.

Upon noticing the blaze, the Indian Army personnel from the nearby Haphruda camp of 2 RAJPUT promptly alerted the Fire and Emergency Services team at Chowkibal. Fire tenders, along with assistance from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local residents, managed to bring the fire under control, preventing any loss of life.

In a humanitarian gesture, the Indian Army’s Haphruda camp of 2 RAJPUT provided immediate relief to the affected families, including food, ration supplies, blankets, and other essential items.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
