New Delhi: Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global leadership, calling him a “key geopolitical player” who engages with world leaders across political spectrums. During his state visit to India, Boric highlighted Modi’s diplomatic reach, stating, “President Modi, you have the status nowadays that you can talk to every leader of the world. You’re supporting Trump, Zelenskyy, the European Union, and the Latin American leaders in Greece or Iran. That is something that no other leader can say now.”
Boric expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received in India, noting that it had been 16 years since a Chilean leader visited. “India has changed a lot in these years,” he remarked. The visit, marking 76 years of diplomatic relations between India and Chile, has led to multiple agreements, including those on cultural exchange and Antarctic research. Boric emphasized Chile’s commitment to strengthening ties with India, positioning it as a strategic partner in Latin America.
The Chilean President is accompanied by key ministers and business leaders and is set to visit Agra, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. His engagement with Indian officials reflects Chile’s interest in deepening economic and political cooperation. Boric and Modi first met during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in November 2024, and this visit further cements their diplomatic rapport.
