Mumbai : Actor Rahul Solapurkar is facing fresh allegations of making objectionable and disrespectful remarks about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, following his controversial statement about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These statements have deeply hurt the sentiments of the Ambedkarite community, and Republican Party of India (RPI) National President and Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale, has demanded that a case be registered against Solapurkar under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and that he be immediately arrested.
A video of Rahul Solapurkar making objectionable remarks about Dr. Ambedkar is going viral on social media. Dr. Ambedkar strongly opposed Brahmanism and the caste-based Chaturvarna system, advocating for equality, but Solapurkar has allegedly insisted on portraying him as a Brahmin, which has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Ambedkarite community, said Ramdas Athawale.
Following these statements, widespread protests have erupted across the state, with Ambedkarite organizations and social activists demanding strict action against Solapurkar.
