New Delhi: The Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM), in collaboration with MASSMA and other trade bodies, has secured a significant victory for steel importers. After more than two months of intense efforts, the Steel Ministry has agreed to release all pending No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Bills of Lading (BL) up to December 3, 2024. The delay in issuing NOCs had caused severe disruptions and losses for importers, despite the imports complying with government regulations.
Under the dynamic leadership of FAM President Jitendra Shah, the issue was taken up at the highest levels. Shri Shah, along with Pritesh Shah, made three visits to Delhi to meet Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and senior officials. They also held discussions with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Maharashtra’s ex Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
In addition to in-person meetings, FAM sent over 20 detailed representations to the concerned ministries, including several appeals to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate action on the matter.
These relentless efforts have culminated in a favorable decision, ensuring that steel importers can now proceed with their operations without further obstacles. FAM expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Piyush Goyal for his steadfast support in resolving this critical issue.
This resolution marks a major milestone in protecting the interests of steel importers and reflects FAM’s commitment to addressing challenges faced by the trade community.
