DIG BSF M D Upadhyay inaugurates free medical cum veterinary camp under civic action programme at Budnamal, Kupwara

Srinagar: The 26 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday organised a free medical camp under Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Budnamal village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district with an aim to provide quality medical care and free medicines to the poor and needy people of the area.

The medical camp was inaugurated by former Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Firdous Ahmed Mir along with DIG BSF M D Upadhyay, Commandant 26 Battalion BSF Lienzakai Sithlou and other officials.

Medical camp was organised in consonance with the ongoing peace process by security forces across Kashmir valley. A team of specialist BSF and civil doctors rendered their services to over 500 patients including men, women and children and 80 Animals were also given free treatment.

These patients had come from different nearby villages for treatment Free medicines were also distributed among people and for animals. People of the area have hailed the efforts of BSF and hoped that security forces will organise such camps in future also.

On this occasion DIG BSF MD Upadhyay said that BSF always stood for peace, prosperity and development of the society.

“The aim of such programmes is to develop good relations with locals and also help them in difficult times. It is a continuous process and 26 BSF Battalion is periodically conducting community outreach programs in one or other way. In the past also such free medical camps were organised in Kupwara district,” he added.

He said that they will continue to conduct such civic programmes for the benefit of the local public in future. Second in Command SFP Vaiphei, Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar, SM Rakesh Kumar, Dr Sumit Thakur AC / MO 26 Battalion, Dr Karan Singh AC /MO 26 Battalion, Dr Sreeparna Sahu AC / MO 127 Battalion, and for veterinary Dr Manik Sharma AC (Veterinary doctor), Inspector Yogesh Tanta 26 Battalion BSF were also present on this occasion.

Dr Aijaz Ahmad Deputy Superintendent Associate Hospital GMC Handwara, Dr Javid Munawer, Gynaecologist, Dr Rameez Nabi Dental, Dr Aayat Mir Medical Officer from GMC Handwara were present on this occasion.
