New Delhi: Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma on Friday visited Sri Niwaspuri to take stock of the city’s monsoon preparedness and addressed the ongoing issue of waterlogging in the area. He emphasized the government’s commitment to cleaning and desilting all drains before the onset of the rainy season.

Speaking to the media during his inspection, Verma said, “We are trying to ensure that all the drains are cleaned and desilted before monsoon… We came here in Sri Niwaspuri today to solve the problem of water logging beforehand.”

The minister also took a dig at the previous Delhi administration, blaming them for neglecting basic civic issues in various localities. “The previous Delhi CM did not do any work here… We will get the entire Delhi cleaned up, no matter who is the MLA there,” he added, suggesting that civic improvements should not be tied to political representation.

Verma further informed that the concerned authorities had committed to completing the drain cleaning work within a month. “The authorities have assured that the drains will be cleaned in one month,” he stated, adding that the initiative would help mitigate monsoon-related flooding and improve urban sanitation across the capital.
