New Delhi: The Delhi government is poised to launch its highly anticipated Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0, aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric mobility across the capital. The draft policy includes significant incentives, especially for women, to promote the transition to eco-friendly transportation.

One of the standout features of the policy is a purchase subsidy for women buying electric two-wheelers. The initiative offers a subsidy of up to Rs 36,000, with the first 10,000 women who hold valid driving licenses being eligible. Under this scheme, women will receive Rs 12,000 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of battery capacity, capped at a maximum of Rs 36,000 per vehicle. This move is designed to encourage greater female participation in the shift toward electric mobility.

The policy, which is set to remain in effect until March 31, 2030, will complement the Centre’s PM E-DRIVE initiative, further boosting the adoption of EVs in Delhi. The draft has already been finalized and is currently awaiting Cabinet approval. Once approved, it will replace the previous EV policy that expired on March 31, 2025, though it has been temporarily extended for 15 more days.
