Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accused certain government officials of issuing misleading newspaper notices about key schemes announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. She alleged that the notices were published under pressure from the BJP and warned that administrative and police action would be taken against the responsible officers.
The controversy stems from notices issued by the Delhi government’s Health Department and Women & Child Development Department. These notices claimed that the Mahila Samman Yojana and a scheme for free health treatment for senior citizens had not been officially notified.
At a press conference, CM Atishi, joined by former CM Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, strongly criticized the BJP. CM Atishi clarified, “The notices issued in newspapers today are incorrect. Under BJP pressure, a few officers got these notices published. Action will be taken against these officers. The information that the Mahila Samman Yojana has been notified by the Delhi Cabinet is in the public domain.”
Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal announced that if the AAP retains power after the elections, the monthly assistance for women under the Mahila Samman Yojana would increase from ₹1,000 to ₹2,100. Additionally, the newly introduced ‘Sanjeevini’ scheme promises free healthcare for senior citizens in Delhi hospitals. Registration for both schemes has already begun, Kejriwal noted.
The AAP leadership condemned the BJP for allegedly trying to derail the schemes through bureaucratic channels. “These programs are a lifeline for women and senior citizens in Delhi. Such misleading notices are an attempt to sabotage welfare efforts,” Atishi added.
