Delhi: Delhi saw a slight dip in pollution levels on Wednesday morning, but the overall air quality remained firmly in the ‘poor’ bracket, offering only minimal relief to residents battling persistent smog. The city’s AQI dropped to 269 — an improvement from Tuesday’s 310 — yet visibility and breathing conditions barely changed as a grey haze continued to blanket most areas.

Data from official monitoring stations showed that pollution hotspots across the capital remained stubbornly high. Twenty-eight stations recorded ‘poor’ air quality, while nine were stuck in the ‘very poor’ category. Dwarka’s NSIT (324) and Bawana (319) once again emerged as some of the worst-affected zones, reflecting hazardous pollution levels typically seen during peak winter.

Other pockets — including Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Nehru Nagar, Pusa, Vivek Vihar, and Wazirpur — also crossed the AQI 300 mark, signalling continued air stagnation and pollutant buildup. Only Aya Nagar, IGI Airport (T3), and Mandir Marg reported comparatively better ‘moderate’ air quality.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the coming days could be more challenging as the city braces for dense fog and an approaching cold wave. Minimum temperatures are expected to plunge to around 7°C, making early mornings harsher, while daytime highs are likely to stay near 25°C.
