Defiant Mumbra adds feather to the cap, becomes first town in the state to get SRPF deployed

MLA Jitendra Awhad himself requests deployment as the errant mobs don’t listen!

Mumbai: While the state government is trying its best to keep the citizens away from getting the deadly Corona virus infection, its efforts are going down the drain due to some defiant groups of people. The irresponsible behaviour of such people is bound to put lives of millions of others in danger.

As people’s representatives in most of the parts of the state are fairly successful in maintaining social distancing and keeping majority of people indoors, people in Mumbra, satellite suburb of Thane city and constituency of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad seem to be errant enough not to pay heeds to appeal by Awhad, too.

As a consequence of massive crowding in the suburb, the home ministry had to finally deployed State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) in the area to keep the people indoors. With this the town has become the first to get the deployment. Interestingly, the errant mob that was moving freely across the town and crowding at will vanished from the streets in no time, after the deployment.

Speaking to The News 21, Awhad said, “The situation in Mumbra is little different from other parts of the state. Local police cannot handle the situation after a certain extent. Hence I personally requested the Home Minister for SRPF deployment in the area. Now that the SRPF is on the ground, situation is under control.” The use of force by local police can lead to a critical situation, which can be prevented if SRPF is deployed. This will also prevent unnecessary speculations and criticism for violation of lockdown, Awhad said.
