In a joint initiative between Army Camp, Langate, Civil Administration and District Cricket Associations of Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora, the North Kashmir Cricket Premier League (NKCPL) is being organised from October 19 to October 31, 2021.

A total of 32 teams from the said three districts of North Kashmir are participating in the tournament with great zeal, enthusiasm and spirit to win.

The tournament is being played at Shaheen Sports Field, Panditpura and Hill Top Sports Field, Udipura over a period of next 13 days.

The tournament started with the opening ceremony, which was graced by Commander, Rajwar Sector and Irfan Panditpuri, DDC Chairman, Kupwara and various other dignitaries from the security forces, civil administration and local population.

The Chief Guest flagged off the event by unveiling the tournament trophy and releasing pigeons as a sign of peace and harmony. Thereafter, the Chief Guest set the ball rolling for the tournament by playing the first ball of the tournament.

The Inaugural Match of the tournament was played between Food Cricket Club, Baramulla and Qaziabad XI, Panditpura. In a keenly contested match, Qaziabad XI was declared as the winner by one run. Shakir Mohammad was declared as Man of the Match. The tournament on the first day itself drew huge crowds to the venue.

The citizens of the area while interacting appreciated the initiative by Indian Army and civil administration in conducting one of its kind tournaments wherein the civil administration has participated at the grassroot level with the aim to select hidden talent in the society.
