CM Fadnavis Defends Union Budget 2025, Lists Key Allocations for Maharashtra

Mumbai: Amid criticism from opposition leaders over Maharashtra’s absence in the Union Budget 2025, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared key budgetary allocations for the state, countering claims of neglect.

Taking to social media platform X, Fadnavis listed several projects that have received funding under the budget. “Maharashtra in the Union Budget! (Note: This is preliminary information. Detailed figures from various ministries and railways will follow),” he posted, highlighting major allocations:

  • Mumbai Metro: ₹1255.06 crore
  • Pune Metro: ₹699.13 crore
  • Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP): ₹511.48 crore
  • Integrated and Green Passenger Facilities for MMR: ₹792.35 crore
  • Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail: ₹4004.31 crore
  • Economic Clusters for Inclusive Development: ₹1094.58 crore
  • Maharashtra Rural Connectivity Improvement Project: ₹683.51 crore
  • Maharashtra Agribusiness Network: ₹596.57 crore
  • Nag River Improvement Project: ₹295.64 crore
  • Mula-Mutha River Conservation: ₹229.94 crore
  • Energy Efficient Lift Irrigation Project: ₹186.44 crore

Fadnavis Calls Budget a “Dream Budget” for Middle Class

Earlier today, CM Fadnavis hailed the Union Budget as a “dream budget” for the middle class, stating that it would spur growth and contribute to an inclusive economy. Speaking to mediapersons after the budget presentation, he praised the government’s decision to increase the income tax exemption threshold from ₹7 lakh to ₹12 lakh under the new tax regime.

“This is a bold step that will prove to be a milestone in the economic history of the country,” Fadnavis said. He further asserted that the budget aligns with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’, accelerating economic growth and development.
