Mumbai: In a major announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today said that those people who have taken two doses of vaccine will be allowed to commute via suburban local trains in Mumbai from the 15th of this month.
Addressing the people of the state through various social media platforms, Chief Minister Thackeray said that passes will be issued to the people who have completed their vaccination.
He said a mobile app has been designed and people have to register on it by entering valid information. The CM added that passes will be issued to those who have completed their vaccination 15 days ago.
He said in Mumbai alone 19 lakh people have taken two doses of vaccine.
He also appealed to the heads of the private offices to implement staggered working hours in their respective offices to reduce the crowd.
He further informed that the opening of restaurants, malls and religious places across the state will be done in a phased manner.
The Chief Minister said although relaxations have been given in Pune to allow shops to remain till 8 PM from tomorrow onwards, he added that the daily caseload in the district is a matter of concern.
He said Pune has been reporting around 900 cases, daily. Apart from Pune, other districts where the cases have not ebbed are Ahmednagar which has been reporting 800 cases, Kolhapur 500 cases, Sangli 600 cases and Beed 250 daily cases.
He said in flood-hit areas of SIndhudurg, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara additional care has to be taken to see that cases of COVID-19 do not see a spike there.
Thackeray said after the alert warning of heavy rains was sounded by the IMD last month, nearly 4.5 lakh people were evacuated and shifted to safer places.
