Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has urged the Centre to remove the 50 per cent limit which will give the right to the state government to grant reservation to the people from the Maratha community.

Addressing the people of the state through various social media platforms on Sunday, the Chief Minister while citing the Supreme Court’s ruling said that the Centre is authorised to give reservation.

Referring to the meeting which he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, Thackeray said that he did discuss the long pending demand of the Maratha community to give them reservations. The meeting was also attended by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and cabinet minister Ashok Chavan who also heads the sub-committee on the Maratha reservation.

Besides, in the meeting, he said the delegation also urged the PM to change the NDRF norm to grant relief to the people affected due to heavy rains and floods.
