New Delhi: In a fiery address to the media on Friday, BJP MP Sambit Patra launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, alleging that the ‘saffron terror’ narrative was a politically driven campaign orchestrated by the Gandhi family to malign Hindu organizations and polarize voters.
Patra referred to senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan’s recent remarks, stating, “On one hand, he says terrorism has no religion — which reeks of classic appeasement — and in the same breath, he invokes terms like ‘Hindu terrorist’ and ‘Sanatan terrorist’. This is a dangerous and deliberate contradiction.”
Citing former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Patra recalled, “Shinde used the term ‘saffron terror’ at a Congress conclave. Later, when asked whether it was appropriate, he admitted he was instructed by the party leadership — clearly implying the Gandhi family — to use that phrase.”
The BJP MP alleged that this narrative wasn’t accidental but part of a systematic agenda. “Even during the Operation Sindoor debate, Prime Minister Modi mentioned how a very senior leader from the Congress went to the United States and briefed American intelligence agencies, claiming saffron terror was a bigger threat than SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India). That too was part of the same political playbook.”
Patra further highlighted new revelations in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, bringing attention to a statement made by former ATS officer Mehiboob Mujawar. “Mujawar, a key member of the Malegaon probe team, has now disclosed that he was pressured by senior officers and powerful figures in the Congress-led government to arrest RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat — despite his name never appearing in any official charge sheet or investigation document.”
“Citing the Constitution, Mujawar refused to carry out illegal orders. As a result, he was punished — denied promotions, slapped with fabricated charges, and later vindicated by the court. This exposes the vindictive mindset of the Congress government and its top leadership,” Patra asserted.
He reiterated that the BJP will continue to expose what he called a “conscious and dangerous” effort by Congress to weaponize national security for electoral gain. “The people of India are now aware of the truth. The ‘saffron terror’ label was never about justice — it was about politics, and about votes,” he concluded.
