Patna: As the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 draw near, the Janata Dal United (JDU) may be facing a serious setback, with reports suggesting that former Purnea MP Santosh Kushwaha is likely to join the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). This potential move is being seen as a major political development that could impact the electoral equations in the region.

Kushwaha, who served as a two-term MP from Purnea, has long been a prominent figure for the JDU in the area. Political analysts warn that his switch to the RJD, if confirmed, could affect JDU’s vote share and organisational strength, particularly among communities that supported him in previous elections.

In addition to Kushwaha, Chanakya Prakash Ranjan, son of sitting Banka JDU MP Girdhari Yadav, and Rahul Sharma, son of former Jahanabad MP Jagdish Sharma, are also reported to be considering joining the RJD, signalling a possible reshaping of leadership in key constituencies.
