New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched a sharp attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, accusing it of defying the federal structure and indulging in appeasement politics over the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators.

“It is truly unfortunate when a state is unwilling to work within the federal structure,” said Singh. “For example, in Bengal, several statements from ministers and the Chief Minister have said that Bangladeshi infiltrators cannot be removed under Mamata Banerjee rule. This is regrettable.”

Singh’s remarks come in the backdrop of recent Centre-issued advisories to states regarding the detection and deportation of illegal immigrants. He emphasized that these directives were not optional and were meant for uniform implementation across all Indian states.

“If the notification advisory has been sent to all states, then Mamata Banerjee must also implement it in Bengal, because Bengal is a state of India, not a separate country. They should not be under any misconception,” he said, questioning the state government’s alleged reluctance to act.

Highlighting what he called “vote bank appeasement politics,” Singh accused the Trinamool Congress of shielding infiltrators for electoral gains. “The way the law is being handled there, with vote bank appeasement politics supporting infiltrators, is unacceptable and must never be allowed to continue,” he asserted.
