Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, raised concerns about her husband’s health and alleged harassment amidst his ongoing custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Speaking to reporters outside the Rouse Avenue court, where Kejriwal was produced after the conclusion of his ED remand, Sunita Kejriwal expressed distress over the situation.

“His (Arvind Kejriwal) health is not fine. Your CM is being troubled,” she asserted, highlighting the toll the legal proceedings have taken on Kejriwal’s well-being. The court extended Kejriwal’s remand till April 1, further prolonging the ordeal for the embattled Chief Minister.

Inside the courtroom, Kejriwal himself made submissions, alleging that the ED’s actions were politically motivated to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He questioned the basis of his arrest in connection with the excise policy case, emphasizing that he was named by only four witnesses. Kejriwal also accused Sarath Chandra Reddy, a co-accused-turned-approver, of donating Rs 55 crore to the BJP, claiming to possess evidence of this transaction.

“A smokescreen of the AAP being corrupt has been created in front of the nation,” Kejriwal asserted, reaffirming his readiness to cooperate with the ED probe. However, his advocate, Ramesh Gupta, emphasized that Kejriwal sought to cooperate on reasonable terms, rejecting the ED’s grounds for seeking an extension of his custodial remand.

During the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate presented a fresh remand plea, citing Kejriwal’s purportedly evasive responses during custodial interrogation. The agency claimed that Kejriwal provided evasive replies on five separate occasions, indicating a lack of cooperation.

Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 in the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case has thrust him into the center of a legal and political storm. Alongside him, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are also in custody in connection with the case, further intensifying the scrutiny on the party.
