Arvind Kejriwal speaking emotionally outside Rouse Avenue Court after discharge in excise policy case

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal became visibly emotional after a Delhi court discharged him in the long-running excise policy case. Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Kejriwal said in a trembling voice, “I am not corrupt. I am kattar imaandar,” as he struggled to hold back tears.

The verdict was delivered by the Rouse Avenue Court, which ruled that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with charges against Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Emotional Scenes Outside Court

As cameras captured the moment, Kejriwal broke down while addressing the media. Standing beside him, Sisodia attempted to console him as he repeated that both had always remained honest in public life. The emotional outburst reflected the long legal and political battle the two leaders have faced over the past few years.

Sisodia, who also received relief in the case, maintained that the truth had finally come out.

Court Questions Conspiracy Claims

In its detailed observations, the court stated that the prosecution had failed to establish the alleged “central conspiratorial role” attributed to the leaders. It noted that the accusations did not stand up to judicial examination and that no criminal intent was found.

The judge observed that the conspiracy theory could not survive legal scrutiny, particularly against constitutional authorities, without concrete material evidence.

Sunita Kejriwal’s Reaction

Soon after the verdict, Sunita Kejriwal shared a message on social media platform X, saying that no matter how powerful a person becomes, they cannot rise above divine truth. She added that truth ultimately prevails.

Her statement was widely circulated among supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party, who described the ruling as a moral and political victory.

Background of the Case

The case originated in 2022 when the Central Bureau of Investigation filed its first chargesheet alleging irregularities in the now-withdrawn Delhi excise policy. Investigators had claimed that a “south lobby” paid large sums to influence policy decisions. Supplementary chargesheets were filed later, expanding the scope of the probe.

With the court now discharging both leaders, the high-profile case has taken a decisive turn. The political implications of the verdict are expected to echo far beyond Delhi, as debates over governance and accountability continue nationwide.
