AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has raised questions over the registration of 58 companies at the address of the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi, asking how the firms were able to obtain government approvals despite the property being allotted to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Bharadwaj said the companies were registered between July and September 2026 using 1 Canning Lane, the address associated with AAP’s national office. He claimed that all 58 firms also obtained GST registrations.
The AAP leader has demanded an explanation from the authorities over how the registrations were processed and whether officials carried out the required verification at the address.
Bharadwaj Questions GST Verification Process
Bharadwaj questioned how the companies could receive GST registrations if physical verification was carried out at the premises.
He pointed out that GST registration can involve Aadhaar-based authentication and, in certain cases, physical verification of the business address.
“If physical verification was carried out, how did officials not notice that the premises belonged to AAP?” Bharadwaj asked.
He also questioned whether officials conducting any verification noticed the absence of offices, company boards or other signs showing that the 58 businesses were actually operating from the premises.
According to Bharadwaj, the issue raises questions about how the companies were able to use the address for official registrations in the first place.
AAP Alleges Conspiracy to Create Hawala Narrative
Bharadwaj alleged that the registrations were part of a larger attempt to create a false financial trail against AAP.
He claimed that the companies could later be linked to allegations of hawala transactions, which could then be used to target the party politically.
Bharadwaj alleged that such a narrative could be used to damage AAP’s reputation ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
These claims have been made by Bharadwaj and have not been independently established. AAP has called for an investigation into who registered the companies using the party office address.
AAP Seeks Investigation Into 58 Registrations
Bharadwaj has asked the Centre and concerned authorities to establish who used the AAP headquarters address, how the companies secured their GST registrations and what happened during the verification process.
He also questioned why the authorities did not flag the registrations if the premises were officially allotted to the political party.
The controversy is now likely to focus on the registration records of the 58 companies, the documents submitted for their GST applications and the verification carried out by the concerned authorities.
AAP has maintained that it has no connection with the companies and has sought a probe into the matter.
