Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has stepped up his attack on Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary following the alleged harassment and assault of a minor boy and girl in Jamui.
Speaking at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, the RJD leader demanded that Choudhary resign from his post, accusing the Bihar government of failing to maintain law and order.
Tejashwi described the Jamui incident as a matter of shame for Bihar and alleged that the state was witnessing what he called “gundaraaj”.

Tejashwi said the Chief Minister should take responsibility for the situation and leave office.
“Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary should immediately resign. It is shameful that some NDA leaders, including ministers, are justifying the incident by saying that such small things happen,” he said.
His remarks came after a video of the incident surfaced online and triggered widespread public and political reaction.
What happened in Jamui
The incident reportedly took place on September 19 when a teenage boy and girl returning from coaching classes were stopped by a group of youths in the Jamui area.
A video that later circulated widely on social media appeared to show the two teenagers being surrounded and harassed. The footage led to outrage and prompted the police to identify and arrest suspects.
Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. An investigation is continuing into the role of the accused.
Political row intensifies
The Jamui case has now turned into a major political issue in Bihar, with opposition parties questioning the state government’s handling of law and order.
Tejashwi has also criticised comments from ruling-party leaders who described the episode as an isolated or minor incident. JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha, meanwhile, compared the present situation with Bihar before 2005, while other NDA leaders have said strict action should be taken against those found responsible.
Police action continues
The police have already arrested suspects in the case and formed an SIT to investigate the incident and trace the remaining accused.
The case gained further attention after the main accused, Nandan Yadav, was reportedly injured in a police encounter on Tuesday while police were attempting to arrest him. Another accused was also reportedly injured during the operation.
The investigation into the original incident and the subsequent police action is continuing.
