New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday, stirred the political landscape ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections by claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalized former MP Ramesh Bidhuri as its Chief Ministerial candidate. He further challenged Bidhuri to a public debate to present his vision for Delhi.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Kejriwal said, “Our sources indicate that the BJP’s Central Election Committee has finalized Ramesh Bidhuri as their CM face. His name is expected to be announced soon. Why is the BJP hesitating to declare their candidate when I have been my party’s CM face from the start?”

Kejriwal accused the BJP of delaying the announcement due to fears of defeat and proposed a public debate between BJP’s CM candidate and other party leaders, including himself. “The BJP’s candidate must share their vision and roadmap for Delhi, explain what they have achieved for the city in the past decade, and outline their plans for its progress. Let the public decide based on merit,” he said.

The AAP leader also raised concerns over alleged manipulation of electoral rolls, accusing the BJP of registering fake voters. Referring to party leader Sanjay Singh’s earlier claims of a sudden increase in voter registrations from the residences of BJP MPs and former MPs, Kejriwal said, “The BJP is flustered and resorting to desperate measures, fearing their loss in the upcoming elections.”

With the BJP yet to officially announce its CM candidate, Kejriwal’s challenge has added a dramatic twist to the election narrative, further intensifying the political battle in the capital.
