Mumbai: In a significant political development ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) has suffered a major setback with senior leader and former BMC Corporator Tejasvee Abhishek Ghosalkar joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Tejasvee Ghosalkar is the wife of UBT leader Abhishek Ghosalkar, who was brutally murdered in his office by one Maurice Bhai, a shocking incident that had sent ripples across Maharashtra’s political landscape. Her move to the BJP is being seen as politically significant as well as emotionally charged, given the tragic circumstances surrounding her family in recent years.
Adding to the importance of this development is her strong political lineage. Tejasvee Ghosalkar is the daughter-in-law of Vinod Ghosalkar, a senior UBT leader and former MLA, who has been a prominent face of Shiv Sena politics in Mumbai for decades. The Ghosalkar family is known to have been closely associated with the Thackeray family since the days of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, making this defection a symbolic blow to the UBT camp.
