New Delhi: Amid a heated political row over slogans allegedly raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a Congress rally, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday hit out at the ruling side, accusing it of deliberately disrupting Parliament to avoid discussions on key public issues.
Responding to media queries, Priyanka Gandhi questioned the focus on slogans while, according to her, more serious parliamentary disruptions were being overlooked. “You (the media) don’t ask why the Union Parliamentary Minister himself was disturbing the proceedings of the House… No one from the stage said anything like that. Then we learned that someone from the public or a worker made that statement, but it is unclear who it was. Then, why is this matter being raised in the House?” she said.
She further alleged that the ruling side was intentionally preventing Parliament from functioning smoothly. “They (the ruling side) don’t want the House to run. We had demanded a discussion on pollution, but they are not doing even that,” Priyanka Gandhi added, underscoring the Congress party’s demand for a debate on rising pollution levels across the country.
