New Delhi: Amid rising tensions in the region, Pakistan has intensified its propaganda campaign against India following precision airstrikes by the Indian Armed Forces on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes were launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pulwama, which reignited concerns over cross-border terrorism.

With its narrative under global scrutiny, Pakistan’s military establishment has now resorted to showcasing selective video clips to international media in an effort to malign New Delhi. During a press briefing earlier this week, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, attempted to shift the blame for recent terror activities by presenting videos of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and former Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik.

Lt Gen Chaudhry controversially claimed that India orchestrated the Pulwama attack in 2019 “for political gain,” citing Malik’s past remarks and Gandhi’s criticisms as supposed evidence. “India itself carried out the attack in Pulwama for its own political gain and after that it blamed Pakistan for it so that it could win the elections by taking action against Pakistan,” Chaudhry said, addressing foreign correspondents in Islamabad.

Analysts in India have dismissed these claims as a desperate attempt to deflect from Pakistan’s failure to rein in cross-border terrorism. Indian security officials have reiterated that the recent military operations targeted only identified terror infrastructure, ensuring minimum civilian harm.

According to defence sources, Indian forces launched retaliatory strikes on the night of May 6 and 7, destroying multiple terror facilities in Balakot, PoK, and adjoining areas. Following this, Pakistan responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Indian military assets. However, Indian air defence systems successfully neutralized these threats without any reported damage or casualties.

India further escalated its response with coordinated strikes on major Pakistani cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi. Notably, the air defence system in Lahore was reportedly incapacitated during the operations.
