Saudi Prince Dies In London Hotel After Fatal Drug And Alcohol Combination, UK Inquest Finds

Prince Suffered Cardiac Arrest During Stay At London Hotel

A UK coroner’s inquest has concluded that a 29-year-old Saudi prince died after consuming a dangerous combination of alcohol, recreational drugs and prescription medication while staying at a luxury hotel in London.

The deceased, identified as Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, was found unresponsive inside his room at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington on November 25. Emergency responders attempted to revive him after hotel staff raised the alarm, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Body Discovered By Hotel Staff

Evidence presented during the hearing revealed that the prince had checked into the hotel on November 19 for what was expected to be a week-long stay.

Security footage reportedly showed him leaving the hotel briefly for a cigarette on the evening before his death. The following day, a housekeeping employee entered his fifth-floor room and discovered him lying fully clothed on the bathroom floor before notifying hotel management.

Paramedics later confirmed that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Toxicology Report Revealed Multiple Substances

The inquest heard that forensic tests detected a high concentration of alcohol in the prince’s bloodstream, along with gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a recreational drug commonly associated with parties and nightlife.

Investigators also found traces of cannabis and prescribed anti-anxiety medication, including Xanax. Medical experts told the court that the combined effect of these substances resulted in cardiac arrest and ultimately caused his death.

Had Previously Undergone Addiction Treatment

Court proceedings revealed that Prince Abdullah had previously received treatment for alcohol dependency and prescription drug misuse.

He underwent a detoxification programme at the Priory Clinic in Roehampton in 2025, where doctors treated him for alcohol, benzodiazepine and pregabalin dependence. Medical professionals said he responded well to treatment before later continuing rehabilitation at another specialist facility in Merseyside.

Although he missed follow-up appointments after discharge, healthcare professionals stated there were no indications that he posed a risk to himself.

Coroner Rules Death Was Accidental

Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin ruled that there was no evidence to suggest suicide or the involvement of any third party.

The investigation found no suicide note or indication that the prince intended to harm himself, while CCTV footage showed no suspicious activity during his final hours.

The official verdict recorded was death by misadventure, with the medical cause listed as cardiac arrest resulting from multi-drug ingestion.

Following the inquest, the Saudi Royal Court confirmed Prince Abdullah’s death and announced that funeral prayers would be held at the VIP Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
