Aaditya Thackeray Slams BJP’s Nishikant Dubey Over Marathi Language Row, Accuses BJP of Divisive Politics

Mumbai: The ongoing political tension surrounding the Marathi language issue intensified on Monday as Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray hit out strongly at BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, accusing him of peddling divisive narratives and insulting Maharashtra’s identity.

Reacting to Dubey’s controversial remarks that appeared dismissive of the recent protests and concerns raised by Maharashtra leaders over the status of the Marathi language, Aaditya Thackeray charged the BJP with deliberately creating instability and division within the state. He said the remarks by Dubey are not isolated but instead reflect the wider anti-Maharashtra mindset of the BJP.

Thackeray said that while Maharashtra has always welcomed people from across the country who come with dreams and aspirations, the BJP has resorted to provoking communal and regional tensions under the guise of language debates. He reiterated that the ongoing agitation is aimed at holding the government accountable, not targeting any language or community.

The UBT leader emphasized that their fight is against the policies and functioning of the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and not against the Hindi-speaking population or North Indian migrants in Maharashtra. He dismissed Dubey’s comments as an attempt to stir unrest and distract from governance failures.
