Indian Army conducts talent hunt show and musical festival at Dangiwacha Watergam

Srinagar: A musical event titled “Dangiwacha Talent Hunt and Music Festival” was organised between October 18 to October 26, 2021 by Indian Army at Rafiabad with the finals on October 26.  The Talent Hunt Show and Music Festival provided a platform to all the local youth showcasing immaculate cultural diaspora which now encourages more youth to come forward and showcase their talent to the entire nation. 

Major General S S Slaria, GoC CIF (K) and his wife Shikha Slaria graced the occasion as Chief Guests. A total of 12 finalists were shortlisted from over a hundred contestants in varied categories of singing, dancing, Sufi music, playing musical instruments, beat boxing and mimicry from Rafiabad, Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara and Handwara even from the remotest areas. The grass root participation of artists was heart-warming.

The female contestants also overwhelmingly took part and danced on famous Punjabi songs which filled the stage with synchronized symphony. The main attraction of the programme were performances in singing, dancing, Sufi music and playing musical instruments, which generated a lot of excitement amongst those who attended, especially the children.

Their performance was judged by eminent singers of Kashmir, Waqar Khan, Punjabi singer’s Gursaaz and Shah Zafar. The judges apart from judging the contestants guided them on the finer nuances of music and history of fine tuning and genre of songs. 

The prize distribution was done by Shikha Slaria who lauded the competitive spirit of all the participants.

The talent hunt show was organised in Dangiwacha Rafiabad successfully highlighting the capabilities of the local youth and also displaying the rich culture of Kashmir. The close coordination and cooperation between the Army and civil administration was on full display during the show, which also contributed towards its huge success.
