Shopian: A top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, Zakir Ganie, was killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Chanapora area of Shopian, officials said.
The operation was launched by a joint team of the Police, Army and CRPF in Chanapora. On Wednesday morning, the body of the terrorist was recovered from a cowshed in the area. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site, officials added.
A senior police officer said the operation was a major success for the security forces.
Meanwhile, in a post on its official X handle, the police wrote: “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide! One Lashkar terrorist neutralised by SOG Shopian in a joint operation with 55 RR and CRPF.”
