TMC Spokesperson Riju Dutta Apologises To Suvendu Adhikari, Says Earlier Remarks Were Made Under Pressure

Political dynamics in West Bengal continue to witness dramatic changes following the BJP’s rise in the state, with fresh controversy emerging after Riju Dutta publicly apologised to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari for his past comments against him.

In a video message that quickly went viral on social media, Dutta claimed his earlier statements targeting Adhikari were made under pressure and expressed regret over the remarks.

Addressing the BJP leader directly, Dutta said he had previously spoken against him because of fears linked to his own safety and the security of his family.

The TMC spokesperson also spoke about his experience after the Assembly election results, stating that BJP supporters treated him respectfully despite political differences.

Recalling a recent incident, Dutta claimed his vehicle passed through an area where BJP workers were celebrating the election outcome, but no one attempted to stop or attack him. Instead, he alleged that party workers ensured his safe passage through the crowd.

He further claimed that leaders from the BJP at both the state and national level had assured him that neither he nor his family would face any harm.

At the same time, Dutta alleged that he had received threats from individuals within the All India Trinamool Congress.

Clarifying his political role, Dutta said he was “only a spokesperson and not a leader,” while his remarks have now sparked intense political discussion across the state.

So far, the BJP has not issued any official response regarding the apology video or Dutta’s allegations.

The development comes amid growing political churn in West Bengal following the Assembly election results, with several leaders reassessing their positions after the change in power.

Recently, former cricketer and ex-minister Manoj Tiwary also resigned from the TMC after the party’s electoral defeat and made allegations against former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
