The Samajwadi Party has begun a statewide exercise to identify strong candidates for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

Lucknow: The political fallout from the Bihar Assembly election results intensified on Friday, with Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav launching a sharp attack on the BJP and alleging that the ruling party used “SIR” to influence the mandate against the INDIA bloc.

Reacting after the NDA’s decisive victory, Akhilesh claimed the technique—referred to as SIR—played a major role in altering Bihar’s electoral outcome. Without elaborating on what SIR precisely entails, he alleged that the method was part of a larger strategy designed to undercut the opposition’s prospects.

In a strongly worded post on X, the SP chief said that the “game played in Bihar using SIR” would not be allowed to repeat itself in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh or any other state headed for elections. “Now the conspiracy has been exposed,” he wrote, adding that the opposition would remain alert and intervene whenever such attempts are suspected.

Akhilesh also announced that the SP has activated a new surveillance mechanism called PPTV — PDA Prahari, which he described as a “real-time vigilance system.” According to him, the PPTV network will act like a digital monitoring tool similar to CCTV, meant to thwart any possible electoral manipulation. “The BJP is not a party but a deception,” he added.

The Bihar result—where the NDA secured a comfortable majority—has triggered introspection across the INDIA bloc, with leaders assessing what went wrong and how the defeat might influence future electoral strategies, especially in Uttar Pradesh where political stakes remain high.
