Handwara: The Handwara Media Association on Saturday conducted elections for its new office bearers, with a closely contested outcome.
Aatif Qayoom was elected President, securing 15 votes against rival Syed Kabeer Geelani, who polled 12 votes.
For the post of General Secretary, Aadil Akbar was declared elected unopposed after the nomination of his opponent was rejected on technical grounds.
Meanwhile, Syed Imtiyaz clinched the position of Vice President, bagging 15 votes against Shameem Bhat, who received 12 votes.
The election proceedings were held in the presence of Tehsildar Langate Mohammad Ismail, SHO Qalamabad Mohammad Ashraf, and several other dignitaries.
