Mumbai: When the World Championship of Legends (WCL) cancelled its India–Pakistan clash in July, it was already branded a betrayal of national sentiment. Now, weeks later, the scandal has worsened — because WCL refuses to answer the most basic questions of accountability.

On 23 August 2025, TheNews21 formally asked WCL three simple questions:

  1. How many tickets were sold for the India–Pakistan match?
  2. How much money was collected from those sales?
  3. How much has actually been refunded to the fans?

WCL has stonewalled every query. No answers. No figures. No timelines.

A reminder was sent on 28 August. Still nothing. Out of fairness, we gave WCL until 4 September to respond. The deadline has long passed. Today is 6 September — and the silence is deafening.

This is not just delay. It is deliberate evasion. WCL was quick to flood stadiums with posters, sell tickets, and market the “India Champions vs Pakistan Champions” clash. But the moment accountability comes knocking, organisers have vanished behind a wall of silence. Fans who trusted the league with their money are left in the dark.

WCL’s silence reeks of arrogance and disregard — not just towards the grieving nation, but also towards ordinary ticket-buyers who deserve transparency. If WCL has nothing to hide, why the secrecy? Why not put the numbers on the table?

The refusal to respond now threatens to destroy the credibility of WCL’s leadership. Founder Harshit Tomar, who built his image on ambition and spectacle, looks increasingly like a businessman dodging tough questions. And Ajay Devgn, Bollywood’s “patriotic” superstar, stands exposed: how can a man celebrated for playing reel-life heroes stay silent while his league cheats real-life fans of clarity?

Every day of silence erodes Devgn’s carefully crafted patriotic brand. Every unanswered query drags WCL deeper into scandal.

WCL had the audacity to issue a one-line apology — “We regret hurting sentiments.” But regret without refunds is meaningless. Apologies without accountability are empty. Until WCL publishes how much money it took from fans and how much it has returned, its apology is nothing more than lip service.

This is no longer just about cricket. It is about trust, transparency, and respect for the nation’s sentiments. By scheduling a match in the shadow of terrorism, WCL chose profit over patriotism. By refusing to answer refund questions, it now chooses secrecy over honesty.

As of 6 September 2025, TheNews21 has received no reply from WCL despite repeated attempts. We will update if they dare to break their silence.

  1. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  2. I’ve recently started a website, the info you offer on this website has helped me greatly. Thanks for all of your time & work. “Men must be taught as if you taught them not, And things unknown proposed as things forgot.” by Alexander Pope.
