Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a major step towards sustainable mobility by unveiling the prototype of a hybrid electric ambulance, developed by Maruti Suzuki.
“Last year, during my Singapore visit, I said that we can convert our old ambulances into Hybrid EVs. Maruti Suzuki accepted this challenge and prepared a working prototype as well. I just saw the prototype of the hybrid ambulance. It fits perfectly with the PM e-Drive Scheme,” PM Modi said while addressing the event.
He further added that the government has allocated a budget of approximately ₹11,000 crore for e-Ambulances under the scheme. According to him, Hybrid EVs will help reduce pollution and provide a sustainable solution for transforming older vehicles into efficient medical transport.
