New Delhi: High drama unfolded in the Lok Sabha on Monday as opposition Members of Parliament stormed into the Well of the House, raising slogans just before the scheduled discussion on Operation Sindoor, forcing Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the proceedings till 1:00 PM.
As tensions escalated, Speaker Birla attempted to maintain order and reminded the protesting MPs that they had themselves demanded a debate on Operation Sindoor, a major anti-terror operation carried out recently by Indian security forces.
“First, you ask for a debate on Operation Sindoor, then in the House, you come into the Well of the House. If you want to participate in a discussion, please take your seats. Do you want a discussion on Operation Sindoor or not?… Should I adjourn the House?” said Speaker Om Birla, visibly displeased with the disruption.
Despite repeated calls for order, opposition MPs continued sloganeering, leading to a complete breakdown in parliamentary procedure.
