India Needs No Mediation: CM Fadnavis Echoes PM Modi’s Firm Stand in Talks with US President

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear message during his conversation with the US President, reaffirming India’s long-standing position on not accepting any third-party mediation in its matters with Pakistan.

Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis stated, “India’s stand from day one has been that we do not need any mediation. After the Indian Army destroyed Pakistan’s military airports, Pakistan came asking for ceasefire. It requested many countries to ask India to declare a ceasefire, but India took a clear stand that no third country needs to come in between.”

Fadnavis was referring to recent diplomatic chatter surrounding US interest in facilitating dialogue in South Asia. However, he emphasized that India’s response has remained consistent.

“If Pakistan wants a ceasefire, then it should talk and request us directly, and when Pakistan talked to us directly, then we will accept the ceasefire,” Fadnavis added. “We have kept it clear from day one that we do not need any third country.”

His remarks come amid growing international commentary on the subcontinent’s military tensions, especially after India’s recent retaliatory strikes on Pakistani military infrastructure. The CM highlighted India’s firm posture and sovereign authority in dealing with cross-border issues.

The Modi–US President dialogue, while cordial and focused on strengthening bilateral ties, also reportedly touched on regional peace and stability — to which PM Modi reiterated India’s preference for bilateral resolution mechanisms.
