CM Reviews Mega Pilgrimage Preparations
With the annual Ashadhi Ekadashi pilgrimage approaching, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a high-level meeting to assess the state’s preparedness for the massive religious gathering in Pandharpur.
The review focused on ensuring seamless arrangements for the lakhs of Warkaris who travel on foot from different parts of Maharashtra to seek blessings at the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple.
Senior Ministers and Temple Authorities Attend Meeting
The meeting brought together Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, ministers Jaykumar Gore and Prakash Abitkar, Ministers of State Meghna Bordikar and Madhuri Misal, along with members of the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir Committee, representatives from the Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sansthan, religious leaders and senior government officials.
Officials discussed coordination among various departments to provide a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees arriving in Pandharpur.
Focus on Safety, Crowd Management and Basic Facilities
The state government reviewed plans related to crowd management, traffic regulation, sanitation, drinking water supply, medical services, emergency response and accommodation facilities for pilgrims.
Special emphasis was placed on maintaining smooth movement of devotees and ensuring uninterrupted essential services throughout the festival period.
Authorities have also been instructed to maintain close coordination with local administration and police to manage the expected surge in footfall.
Warkari Tradition Continues to Draw Thousands
Ashadhi Ekadashi is one of Maharashtra’s most significant spiritual events, with thousands of Warkaris walking hundreds of kilometres while singing devotional abhangas before reaching Pandharpur.
The centuries-old tradition attracts devotees from across the state and remains one of India’s largest annual religious pilgrimages.
Government Aims for Smooth and Secure Festival
The Maharashtra government has reiterated its commitment to providing a well-organised and secure pilgrimage for devotees this year.
With preparations entering the final phase, officials are working to ensure that transportation, civic amenities, healthcare services and security arrangements remain fully operational, allowing pilgrims to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi without inconvenience.
