“Artificial Education Model Collapsed in 2 Years”: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams AAP Over School Conditions

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday held a review meeting with principals of government schools and launched a strong critique of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s education model, calling it “artificial” and ineffective in the long run.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, CM Gupta said, “… The conditions of schools today is as it is. The infrastructure is still the same. This school was renovated in 2018 by Arvind Kejriwal’s government, and it returned to its original state in less than two years. They developed an artificial education model.”

She highlighted that in areas like Haiderpur village, which have a dense population, not a single government school offers science education. “Where should those students go who want to study science? You can see the direction in which their education policy was aimed at, if they could not provide a single science school in the last 11 years of their governance,” Gupta stated.

Criticizing the state of physical infrastructure, the Chief Minister pointed out the deteriorated condition of school grounds and the lack of sports facilities. “Grounds and gardens in schools are in a bad condition. There are no sports facilities in schools…” she noted.

She also raised concerns about severe staff shortages in schools across the national capital. “There is a shortage of staff in most schools… We are ensuring recruitment is done properly and all vacancies are filled,” she assured.

In a major policy announcement, Rekha Gupta said her government will establish 75 new PM-SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) institutions. “75 PM-SHRI schools will be made, and they will be better than private schools,” she declared, promising world-class infrastructure and a renewed focus on quality education.
