Show Cause Notices Issued to Rebel MPs Amid Fresh Shiv Sena (UBT) Defection Buzz

Shiv Sena (UBT) Tightens Action Over Absentee MPs

Shiv Sena (UBT) has stepped up internal disciplinary measures after several Lok Sabha MPs skipped a key parliamentary meeting, triggering renewed speculation about possible defections and growing unrest within the party’s parliamentary wing. The leadership has initiated formal action by issuing show-cause notices to the concerned lawmakers, asking them to explain their absence without delay.

24-Hour Deadline Issued for Explanation

Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha Anil Desai has directed the absent MPs to submit written responses within 24 hours. The notice warns that failure to justify their absence may be treated as voluntary disengagement from the party’s organisational responsibilities, which could open the door for action under the Anti-Defection Law. Party insiders say the move is intended to enforce discipline and prevent further fragmentation.

Six MPs Skip Crucial Party Meeting

The controversy began after six out of nine Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs did not attend an important strategy meeting in New Delhi. The missing MPs include Nagesh Ashtikar, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Dina Patil, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, and Bhausaheb Wakchaure. Only a limited group of senior leaders including Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje, and Sanjay Raut were present, exposing internal divisions within the parliamentary team.

Defection Speculation Intensifies in Maharashtra Politics

The mass absence has fuelled strong speculation in Maharashtra’s political circles about a possible realignment of loyalties towards the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction. Although no official confirmation has been issued by the absent MPs, political observers believe the situation reflects deepening uncertainty within the UBT camp.

Sanjay Raut Warns of Legal Action

Senior leader Sanjay Raut has taken a hard line, stating that the party is prepared to pursue disqualification proceedings if necessary. He said constitutional and legal mechanisms will be used to hold absent MPs accountable and prevent weakening of the organisation.

Internal Crisis Puts Spotlight on Party Unity

The latest developments come at a sensitive time for Shiv Sena (UBT), which is still dealing with the aftermath of earlier political splits. With leadership under pressure and speculation of further defections growing, the party is now facing one of its most serious internal challenges in recent months.
