In a proactive move under the civic action programme, the 26 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) organized the ‘Nashta Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ at Melyal in Kupwara. The event, aimed at creating awareness and promoting civic engagement, witnessed the participation of various dignitaries, including Shri S P F Vaiphie, officiating commandant of 26 Battalion BSF, Shri Raju Barhadiya, Deputy Commandant, Dr. Owais Ahmad (Senior Resident), Dr. Rameez (Dentist), Khursheed Ahmad (Clinical Physiologist), along with village heads, villagers, and students.
As part of the program, doctors delivered informative lectures on drug awareness to approximately 60 villagers from Melyal and Kachmana. The emphasis was on educating the community about the harmful effects of drug addiction and ways to address the issue.
Addressing the gathering, Shri SPF Vaiphie, the officiating commandant, spoke about the importance of tackling drug addiction and highlighted remedial measures. The civilians present expressed their gratitude for organizing such an insightful awareness program and voiced their request for a medical camp in Melyal and Kachama.
As a token of appreciation and to commemorate the program, BSF distributed T-shirts, caps, and pamphlets on drug awareness among the civilians. The distribution aimed to serve as a reminder of the importance of fostering a drug-free society and encouraging the community to actively participate in such awareness initiatives.
The ‘Nashta Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ by the 26 Battalion BSF not only addressed the critical issue of drug awareness but also showcased the collaborative efforts of the security forces in fostering community well-being and civic engagement. The success of such initiatives lies in the collective responsibility shared by both authorities and the local community in creating a healthier and more informed society.
