Srinagar: Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti organised ex-servicemen meet at Krusan to commemorate the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ celebrations.
Ex-servicemen present at the event were honoured by the Indian Army for their courage and sacrifices. During the event, they were also briefed about the various schemes undertaken by the authorities for them. A total of 82 ex-Servicemen and three Veer Nari from the area, including veterans of the Kargil war, attended the meet.
During the meet, the ex-servicemen shared their experiences of the wars and some of them also shared various incidents that took place during their times. An interactive session during the meet helped in shedding light on the prevailing feelings of people.
During this session, ex-servicemen also shared their grievances which were noted down and will be addressed accordingly. The veteran fraternity has been instrumental in fostering amicable ties between the army, public and have been the torch-bearers of the Indian Army.
During the event, Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti explained about the newly launched ‘Agnipath Recruitment Scheme’ for the armed forces and its benefits for the Kashmiri youth.
The officer mentioned that the scheme aims to enrol youths, who will be called ‘Agniveers’, for a service duration of four years. After the completion of their tenure, 25% of Agniveers will be retained or re-enlisted in the regular cadre while the remaining 75% will be demobilised with an exit package.
The veterans welcomed the scheme for the betterment and positive future of Kashmiri youth. The meet gave out a message to the veterans that the organisation cares for them and will always stand by them.
