Beijing: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India-China diplomatic ties, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the importance of the relationship between the two nations, calling it a “Dragon-Elephant tango”—a metaphor for their potential cooperation and mutual growth.
In a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Xi emphasized that India and China, as two of the world’s largest economies and emerging powers, must work together for regional and global stability. “The relationship between our two nations is a ‘Dragon-Elephant tango,’ symbolizing the harmony that can be achieved when we cooperate. A stable and constructive partnership is in the best interest of both our countries,” he said.
According to Chinese state media Xinhua, Xi noted that despite tensions following the 2020 border clashes, recent diplomatic engagements have placed bilateral ties on a positive trajectory. He urged both sides to prioritize peaceful coexistence and enhance cooperation in global affairs.
“Our nations have a long history of cultural and economic exchange. The path forward should be one of deepened communication and coordination to ensure lasting peace, especially in border regions,” Xi remarked.
