Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 73rd birthday on Sunday, and well-wishes poured in from around the globe to mark the occasion. Among those extending their greetings was Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who took to social media to express her friendship and convey her warm wishes.

In a heartfelt message posted on X (formerly Twitter) in Italian, Prime Minister Meloni wrote, “Happy Birthday Wishes @narendramodi. A friend committed to building the future and proud of the history of a great nation close to Italy.”

This gesture underscores the growing camaraderie between the two leaders, which previously garnered global attention during the G20 Summit held in New Delhi.

During the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Meloni, during which they discussed a wide range of topics, including Italy’s prospective involvement in the Global Biofuel Alliance and the collaborative India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor partnership. Both leaders also acknowledged Italy’s support for India’s G20 Presidency.

Furthermore, the two leaders assessed the progress of the India-Italy Strategic Partnership and affirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas such as defense and emerging technologies. They emphasized the importance of G7 and G20 collaboration for the betterment of global welfare.

Prime Minister Meloni congratulated Modi for the successful G20 Summit, to which Modi responded on Twitter, saying, “I had an excellent meeting with PM @GiorgiaMeloni. Our talks covered sectors such as trade, commerce, defense, emerging technologies, and more. India and Italy will keep working together for global prosperity.”

Prime Minister Meloni’s visit marked her second to India, elevating bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during her State visit in March of the same year.

As part of his birthday celebrations, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the extension of the Airport Express line in Delhi’s Dwarka and took a metro ride. During the journey, he interacted with fellow passengers, who enthusiastically expressed their birthday wishes, clapped, sang “Happy Birthday Modi ji,” and even took selfies with him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 73rd birthday has become a global celebration, reflecting the significance of his leadership on the international stage and the growing partnerships between nations.
