Patna: As political temperatures rise ahead of the Bihar elections, a fresh controversy has erupted within the Yadav household. Aishwarya Rai, estranged wife of RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, has launched a scathing attack on the Yadav family, calling party patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav’s recent move to sever ties with his son “pure drama” orchestrated for political mileage.

Aishwarya didn’t mince words as she accused the family of ruining her life under the guise of social status and political alliances. “Everyone knows what happened. If they knew everything, why did they marry him to me? Why was my life ruined? Why was I beaten?” she asked, in an emotionally charged media interaction. Her statement came a day after Lalu Yadav announced Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the party for six years over “disciplinary reasons”.

Accusing the Yadav family of staging a show for electoral gains, Aishwarya claimed, “They are all together—they haven’t separated. The elections are near, so they’ve taken this step and created this drama.” She further revealed that she only found out about her divorce through media reports and had no prior information. “Ask them: what was the need to ruin my life?” she questioned, underscoring the emotional toll of the public fallout.

The controversy deepened after Tej Pratap posted a photo with a woman, calling her his “girlfriend of 12 years”, only to later delete it and claim his account was hacked and the image doctored. The incident reportedly triggered Lalu’s decision to expel his elder son from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, but Aishwarya believes the move is politically timed.
