The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) made a significant arrest on Sunday, apprehending Satyendra Siwal on charges of supplying classified information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Siwal, employed as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), was stationed at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia.
Who is Satyendra Siwal?
Satyendra Siwal, hailing from Shahmahiuddinpur village in Hapur district, has been working as an India Based Security Assistant (IBSA) at the Indian Embassy in Moscow since 2021. His father’s name is Jaiveer Singh. However, recent events have cast a shadow over his professional reputation as he stands accused of involvement in anti-national activities.
Involvement in Anti-National Activities
An FIR has been lodged against Siwal at the ATS Police Station in Lucknow, charging him under Section 121A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Official Secrets Act 1923, which pertains to waging war against the country. According to reports, the UP-ATS had been gathering intelligence regarding the unauthorized disclosure of classified documents to ISI operatives for some time.
Allegations suggest that Siwal, lured by substantial bribes, allegedly provided sensitive information about the Indian Embassy, MEA, Defence Ministry, and military establishments to ISI handlers. The ATS revealed that ISI agents enticed MEA employees with lucrative offers in exchange for crucial intelligence.

Following intensive surveillance and investigation, the ATS summoned Siwal to their field unit in Meerut for interrogation. Reportedly, Siwal failed to provide satisfactory answers and eventually confessed to his involvement in espionage activities.
