Mumbai: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar, on Saturday confirmed that the opposition bloc comprising the Congress, Sharad Pawar–led NCP (SP), and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) is prepared to contest the upcoming elections as a unified alliance.

Speaking to reporters, Wadettiwar said the three parties have already reached a broad understanding and are committed to presenting a strong, coordinated front against the ruling Mahayuti government. “The three parties — our Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena — are ready to come together and fight the elections as a united front,” he said.

Amid growing speculation about Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) being included in the opposition alliance, Wadettiwar clarified that talks are still underway. “As for the participation of MNS, discussions are ongoing, and no final decision has been made yet,” he stated, adding that the core alliance of the three parties remains firmly intact.
