Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a major initiative, offering a one per cent concession on stamp duty for women registering properties valued up to Rs 1 crore. This marks a significant increase from the previous cap of Rs 10 lakh, with the intention of encouraging property ownership among women. The decision was conveyed to the Stamp and Registration Department during a high-level review meeting, according to an official statement.

In addition to this, CM Adityanath directed officials to impose a cap of Rs 5,000 for the division and registration of ancestral properties, thereby alleviating the financial burden on families. He also highlighted the necessity of establishing uniform circle rates across the state and emphasized the importance of mandatory document verification before property registration.

Further efforts to modernize the registration system include the adoption of digital technologies to streamline the process and the modernization of registry office infrastructure to enhance public-facing services.
